H.R.1200: Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2019
Overview
The Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act (H.R 1200) allows disabled veterans and their families to receive a one-time cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in disability and survivors’ compensation. The COLA, which takes effect on Dec. 1, 2019, will be the same as the COLA set by the Social Security Administration (SSA). It covers benefits such as wartime disability compensation, a clothing allowance, and dependency and indemnity compensation for children and surviving spouses. The VA will be required to publish the increased amounts in the Federal Register.
S.2072 was the companion legislation in the Senate. The bill was signed into law on September 26th, 2019.
