H.R.1384: Medicare for All Act of 2019
Overview
The Medicare for All Act (H.R. 1384) would create a single federal program with comprehensive benefits for all US residents that would be tax-financed with no premiums, no deductibles, and no cost-sharing. This plan would replace all private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare and CHIP, two years after the date of enactment (Veterans Affairs Health stays in place). Children under age 19 and adults age 55 and older have the option to enroll earlier, beginning one year after the date of enactment. This bill would authorize the government would begin negotiating down the cost of drug prices and caps total out of pocket drug expenses for individuals to $200 a year.
