Overview

Homeland Security Improvement Act (H.R. 2203) would establish new oversight of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by creating an Ombudsman to focus on border and immigration-related issues, forming a commission to investigate the treatment of migrants along the Southern border, and directing the Ombudsman to develop a plan to require the use of body-worn cameras at Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), among other provisions.

S. 2691 is the Senate companion bill.
