H.R.3086: Respond, Innovate, Succeed, and Empower Act of 2019

Overview

The RISE Act (H.R. 3086) would amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to set forth requirements about data collection related to students with disabilities. Specifically, the bill would require “Institutions of Higher Education” to outline which documents disabled students need to submit in order to ensure they are eligible for student disability support services. These institutions then must submit data related to their students with disabilities for inclusion in federal postsecondary institution data collection efforts. The bill also would appropriate $10 million to the National Center for Information and Technical Support for Postsecondary Students with Disabilities.

S. 1585 is the Senate companion bill
