H.R.3398: Pathways to Health Careers Act

Overview

Pathways to Health Careers Act (H.R. 3398) would amend and reauthorize and the Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG) program Beginning in 2021, the bill would quintuple funding for the HPOG program, providing $425 million for each year from 2021 through 2025. The expanded program would provide grants to train low-income individuals for careers in the health professions. This would include creating demonstration projects to train individuals for careers in the pregnancy, childbirth, or postpartum fields, as well as providing education and training in the health professions for individuals with arrest or conviction records. The bill is an incorporation of 16 individual bills that had been previously introduced this Congress:
