H.R.3444: School Food Modernization Act
Overview
The School Food Modernization Act (H.R. 3444) would provide $35 million annually in grants over five years and $300 million in loan guarantees to improve our schools’ lunch facilities and equip kitchen staff with the necessary training to prepare food with fresh ingredients. The bill would also provide $10 million in grants annually to support eligible third-party training institutions, to develop and administer training and technical assistance for school food service personnel to meet or exceed nutrition standards, and improve efficacy and efficiency of the school lunch program.
S.1949 is the Senate companion bill introduced by Sen. Susan Collins
