H.R.4288: Teacher Diversity and Retention Act

Overview

The Teacher Diversity and Retention Act (H.R.) would appropriate $100 million annually over the next five years to two new grant programs wit the goal of strengthening and expanding teacher recruitment and training. The first grant program would enable Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) to apply for funds to establish or revamp programs to recruit and retain diverse teachers. The second grant program would fund the expansion of teacher training programs that enable dual certification or include socio-emotional learning, special education, and behavioral management training.
