H.R.4420: Timely Mental Health for Foster Youth Act

Overview

The Timely Mental Health for Foster Youth Act (H.R. 4420) would amend title IV of the Social Security Act to require an initial mental health screening for all children entering foster care within 30 days of entrance. In the case of any child identified with a health issue in the initial screening, the bill would require that a comprehensive assessment of the child’s mental health must be completed within 60 days after the child’s entry into foster care.
