H.R.507: Put Trafficking Victims First Act of 2019

Overview

The Put Trafficking Victims First Act (H.R. 507) would help promote trauma-informed care that helps victims recover cooperate with law enforcement. The Department of Justice (DOJ) would be required to work with federal entities and other stakeholders to (1) establish a working group to improve the collection and analysis of data on the incidence of trafficking, (2) report on efforts to develop methodologies to determine the prevalence of human trafficking, and (3) survey survivors to estimate the incidence of human trafficking and improve services for victims.

DOJ must also report to Congress regularly on efforts to increase restitution for victims of trafficking.
