H.R.517: Closing Asylum Loopholes Act

Overview

The Closing Asylum Loopholes Act would increase the burden of proof on asylum seekers from “significant possibility” to “more probable than not” that the asylum seeker has a “credible fear of persecution” . . . “on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion” in the country that person last habitually resided.
