Overview

The Retirement Plan Modernization Act (H.R. 5676) would amend the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) to increase the amount of accrued benefits in a pension plan that may be immediately distributed without the consent of the participant from $5,000 to $8,000. The bill also requires the increased limit to be adjusted for inflation after 2019.
