S.117: Disability Integration Act of 2019

Overview

The Disability Integration Act aims to fully integrate people with disabilities into their communities by ensuring more inclusive access to Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS). The legislation would require insurance companies that normally offer institutional services to also offer community-based services. This gives people with disabilities full say in how and where they receive LTSS. Additionally, the legislation would create a comprehensive planning requirement that includes enforceable benchmarks and also requires states to address the need for affordable and accessible housing and transportation.

H.R. 555 is the House companion bill.
