S.1494: Secure and Protect Act of 2019
Overview
The Secure and Protect Act includes many provisions that would be detrimental to the safety and well-being of immigrant children and families, including changes to the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) and the application of the Flores Settlement Agreement and its related court orders. The bill also imposes substantial barriers to applying for asylum and other forms of legal relief, increasing the likelihood that those fleeing persecution will be unable to apply for protection.
