S.1550: Helping to Encourage Real Opportunities (HERO) for At-Risk Youth Act of 2019
Overview
Helping to Encourage Real Opportunities for At-Risk Youth Act (S. 1550) would modify the work opportunity tax credit. The bill would change the credit for summer youth employees to credit for students who are employed for not more than 20 hours per week during the summer, increase the amount of credit for youth employees, and expand the credit to include at-risk youth. The bill also extends until December 31, 2020, the designation period for certain tax-favored empowerment zones.
H.R. 2845 is the House companion bill introduced by Rep. Robin Kelly.
