S.290: Native Youth and Tribal Officer Protection Act
Overview
The Native Youth and Tribal Officer Protection Act (S.290) would extend tribal jurisdiction over violence committed against a child by a caregiver, attempted or threatened domestic violence, and violence against law enforcement officers involved in preventing, investigating, arresting, or prosecuting domestic violence. Additionally, this bill reauthorizes for five years grants to tribal governments for exercising tribal criminal jurisdiction for domestic violence.
