S.3158: Diversifying by Investing in Educators and Students to Improve Outcomes For Youth Act

S. 3158 would double the TEACH Grant Program annually and lifetime award amount. The TEACH Grant Program provides up to $4,000 a year in grant assistance (with a $16,000 bachelors and $8,000 graduate lifetime cap) to a student who agrees to serve for at least four years as a full-time teacher in a high-need field in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. This bill would raise the maximum annual grant for students from $4,000 to $8,000 in an attempt to keep up with the rising cost of colleges and incentivize more students to pursue a career in public education.
