The CLOSE Act (H.R. 5719) would implement a financial asset verification program that would restrict the number of eligible SNAP participants. Sponsors of this bill project that if passed, this legislation would kick more than five million individuals off of SNAP and reduce federal investment in nutritional programs by $7 billion.
